Sensitive Lake. Photographs by Sarah Carp

Sensitive Lake. Photographs by Sarah Carp

2 July 2015 - 29 October 2015

Despite the ocean, she missed Lake Geneva. Recently settled in Wales, Sarah Carp suffers from the absence of her lake. She realises that it is a landmark, a home base, a part of herself. Then an unexpected invitation arrives: the Musée du Léman offers her free rein. How could she refuse a remedy for her nostalgia? So here is the photographer back on the shores of her childhood. Step by step, she imagines what will become "Lac Sensible": a poetic journey along the water that is both a portrait of the lake and a self-portrait of the artist. As usual, Sarah Carp is at the crossroads of reportage and staging. Her models are her friends, her parents and herself. The places photographed are full of her memories. Sarah Carp's universe is intimate, but not hermetic. Her talent allows her to open her intimacy without exhibitionism. For the spectators, there is no need to know who is who, understanding who does what is enough.
